The village of Los Martinez is very peaceful, but still boasts 2 tapas bars, and village shop. There is also a children’s play area, a sports area and a council run tapas bar/ swimming pool with a lifeguard, which is open June to September.
The village is situated in ideal walking country, also a painter’s paradise, with wonderful mountain views. If you like the beach this is just a short drive away.
Your own transport is essential if you wish to explore further afield in this fantastic area of Spain.
Heading out of the village you join the N340a. Turn right and the road takes you to Sorbas, famous for its caves and magnificent views. Continue on along the N340a and you'll pass the Circuit de Almeria, ideal for all those budding Lewis Hamiltons and Valentino Rossis. Further along the N340a you'll find Fort Bravo and Mini Hollywood, both sets for the original spaghetti westerns of the 1960's and 70's, where you can be Clint Eastwood for the day! Mini Hollywood also incorporates a zoo.
Turning left onto the N340a takes you to the E15 motorway. Head south and explore the Cabo de Gata national park and Almeria City. Head north and follow the signs for the moorish village of Mojacar. Down the hill from Mojacar Pueblo you'll find the lovely beaches of Mojacar Playa. Continue north along the coast road and you'll find the fishing village of Garrucha, with its busy port/marina area. There's also a great market here on Friday mornings.
